Markir (2026)
Log line
Markir is an upcoming, multi-disciplinary exhibition and film detailing the real-life journey of the wolf Markir and how he came to be in the center of a societal struggle between nature conservation and use in Norway.
About the project
Through following the captivating story of Markir journeying 200 kms to his new home, finding a mate and building a family, attendees are introduced to- and educated on the history, biology and political histories shaping wild life policies and practices in Scandinavia today.
The film uses hand-drawn analogue animation techniques, largely rotoscoped from real-life nature camera captures of these specific wolfs in their actual habitat, drawing viewers close to the wild subjects in an artistic way rarely experienced.
Entering the rectangular exhibition structure, attendees are presented with three floor-to-ceiling projections surrounding the taxidermied wolf of the film, encapsulating them in the story and experience of the exhibition.
The exhibition goes up at Østfoldmuseene late spring, 2026.
